Optimal Cares Halloween Car Show - Bakersfield

The last Saturday in October we host the Annual Optimal Cares Halloween Car Show presented by Greenlawn Funeral Homes at the Bakersfield RV Resort. The event is open to the public and FREE to attend. There is food from the Crest Bar & Grill, vendor booths, prize drawings, music, trunk or treating, and a costume contest for kids. Awards are presented for Best of Show, Best Upholstery, Best Engine, Best Paint as well as multiple Sponsor picks. The event is open to all vehicles and motorcycles - registration fee to show is $35. The 2019 Optimal Cares Halloween Car Show presented by Greenlawn Funeral Homes was held Saturday, October 26th  at the Bakersfield RV Resort/Crest Bar & Grill. Once again the event had over 90  entrants, vendors, numerous attendees and lots of Trunk or Treaters. The Foundation would like thank everyone who helped make the event a success and helped raise over $8,500 to support our Mission. Special Thank you the Bakersfield RV Resort/Crest Bar & Grill for hosting our event.

Optimal Cares Garden Wine Tasting - Fresno

The 4th Annual Optimal Cares Garden Wine Tasting was held on Saturday, June 1st hosted at the beautiful home of Tim & Millie Byers. The event raised over $10,000 to support the Mission of the Foundation.

The evening included 9 wine and 12 food tastings from local vendors. There was live entertainment as well as a prize drawing including the special “Wheelbarrow of Wine”. While roaming the grounds guests enjoyed delicious food and wine and were treated to the sounds of The Macey Blue Band, who donated their time and talent for the evening.

Golf Tournament

The Annual Optimal Hospice Foundation Golf in the Sun and Under the Stars golf tournament take place each Fall.  This fun event begins with nine holes of   golf in the late afternoon, followed by dinner and then culminating with the final nine holes played in the dark with glow-in-the-dark golf balls.  The tournament raises money for the Foundation in a very unique and festive atmosphere. So start planning your foursome now and join us!

The 28th Annual Golf In the Sun & Under the Stars Tournament presented by Greenlawn Funeral Homes was held Friday, September 13, 2019 at Stockdale Country Club. The tournament teed off at 3:30pm with 100 golfers who played the first nine holes In the Sun. Following the first nine the players and sponsors enjoyed a wonderful buffet dinner at the Country Club. During dinner a prize drawing was held that includes the popular "Cooler of Cocktails". After dinner players headed back to the course and played the final 9 holes Under the Stars.

Kids Camp

Kids Camp LogoThe loss of a loved one touches each member of the family, including children.  To help young people through their bereavement, Optimal Hospice Foundation created Kids Camp.  This over-night summer camp program is specially designed for young people ages 5 - 16 that have experienced the death of an loved one.

At Kids Camp, young people enjoy traditional camping activities, such as swimming and hiking, in an atmosphere where both staff and fellow campers understand their special needs. Kids Camp is held in the Bakersfield, Fresno, and Northern California (Livermore) areas and is open to the community - attendees loved one did not have to utilize hospice services. The Fresno Camp is held in mid July, Bakersfield in late July/early August and NORCAL in mid August. 

Optimal Hospice Foundation would like to recognize The Taylor Family Foundation for hosting our NORCAL Kids Camp held at The Taylor Family Foundation at Camp Arroyo. The Taylor Family Foundation’s mission is to preserve the wellness and enhance the quality of life for children in Northern California with life-threatening and chronic illnesses, disabilities and youth at-risk through unique therapeutic experiences and support. This innovative experience is available at no cost to families, thanks to generous support from the community. Camp participants may be referred by school counselors, healthcare providers, family members and other individuals.
